Working at a leading digital media agency gave me a unique opportunity: optimizing digital planning processes to improve campaign management and client collaboration.
When the team lead stepped down, the digital planners found themselves understaffed, under pressure, with tight deadlines and demanding client requests. My initial role was to support them in their day-to-day work—but it quickly became clear: campaign management processes needed a rethink to gain in efficiency.
Auditing workflows to optimize digital planning
After a thorough analysis of communication flows and existing tools, I identified a critical pain point: the client briefing. It was a 40+ page PDF covering all media channels—where digital-specific information was buried and hard to process.
My solution? Create a Digital Executive Briefing: a clear, automated Excel template that was:
- Easy for clients to complete thanks to dropdowns and auto-formulas
- Structured for fast and clear reading by digital planners
- Standardized to ensure more efficient digital campaign management
The result? Smoother communication, faster team responses, and more structured strategic recommendations.
A solution so effective, it was adopted across other media channels
Following the success of this new process, the client quickly saw its potential. Impressed by the efficiency of the Digital Executive Briefing, they asked the agency to replicate the format for other media channels. While I didn’t oversee that expansion, it confirmed the relevance and added value of the approach.
Optimizing processes in digital media: a performance driver
This project confirmed one thing: digital planning efficiency isn’t just about media expertise—it’s about structuring and simplifying campaign management processes.
